Description

The waning crescent moon (~10%) appeared near Venus in the eastern sky before sunrise on the morning of July 20, 2017. On this the 48th anniversary of the first Apollo moon landing, I imaged the Moon and Venus in the sky over historic Building 32 at NASA Johnson Space Flight Center where Apollo space flight program hardware including the command module was tested in the 1960s. Today the James Webb Space Telescope is undergoing cryo thermal vacuum testing in that same vacuum chamber.

Imaged using Nikon D5100 and Tamron 18-270 mm lens set at 18 mm, ISO1600, F/6.3, and 1/5 sec exposure.
