Description

I know this is no where near some of the excellent Milky images we see but it is pretty special to me.

Getting ready for eclipse trip, I wanted to get a widefield rig with my D750 , Samyang 14mm lens and iOptron Skytracker . I primarily wanted to learn how to connect these things and get it focused etc. I havent done DSLR imaging for AP for years now so it was feeling pretty new.

I got the polar alignment done and figured a 30 second shot at F/4.5 and ISO800 might be good to check focusing. It was hard to figure out optimal focus and I need to get a workflow for that .

The tracking seems ok and the lens itself seems ok but I do see coma. I had trees in the view and I had to crop after stacking it.

I also set up the D750 to use internal intervalometer and long ISO NR . So with 2.5 hour run yielded 120x30 sec suibs (30 sec for light and 30 sec for NR and 10 second padding). It worked quite well.

Was surprised to see a hint of miklyway in the sub and figured it is worth a try and it actually looks decent.. lots and lots of light pollution gradients and moon is already factor but I can still see structure !
