Description

This is an experiment I have been playing with in Photoshop.

I took this Ha an OIII data for IC5070 and tried the traditional HOO blending and wasn't really happy with the results. Even after some herculean color shifts with SelectiveColor in Photoshop it just wasn't giving me what I wanted.

So instead I created these layers in Photoshop:

- solid color layer with a golden color and Ha as mask

- solid color layer with a bluish color and OIII as mask

- solid color layer with a rust color and difference of Ha and OIII as mask

- solid black layer as base

I then adjusted the opacity of the layers to blend the colors I wanted in the image.

I used Curves on the masks to further tweak the color strength.

Then followed with some SelectiveColor layers to tweak the color. I didn't have to do very much at all since I was blending the primary colors from the start.

I'm sure this has been done this way before but I'm not familiar with it - would love to learn more if this is an existing method.
