Description

This is my first LRGB combination.

I use my recently acquired image of M13 in 15 minutes total exposure for the Luminance channel (APO 130 FD6.6 & ASI 1600) and the old 2016 data for the RGB channel (C8EHD FD10 & QHY8L).

I learn this process (in particular LinearFit and CurveTransf) from a tutorial from Gerald Wechselberger.

I realized that LinearFit the RGB components with the Luminance channel is a required to achived proper color LRGB combination.

Using CurvesTranform on Color and Saturation channels is a good way to boost color in the high SNR areas.

I processed the data in PI as follow :

- load the monochrome, linear image from APO & ASI (after background removal, noise removal & deconvolution)

- load the final color nonlinear image from C8EHD & QHY8L

- register the monochrome image onto the color one

- extract RGB channel from color image

- linear fit the R, G & B images using monochrome as reference

- convert back R,G & B channel to RGB image

- extract a & b channels from RGB image

- create RGB image using monochrome as C channel and a & b images as a & b channels

- create non linear image using masked stretch and histo transform

- increase color saturation using Curves Transform on C and S channels

- cancel residual star halo around the bid star on the left (coming from reflections inside the C8EHD), this was done using DBE in PI

- further adjust color and levels in Imac Photo
