Description

I did not intend on imaging M4 tonight. However the sky sort of chose what I could image. I

could only see three complete constellations, Scorpius, Ursa Major, and Cassiopia because of

clouds in the sky. I was determined to image something tonight. UPS delivered my field

flattener yesterday and I wanted to test it to see if it was going to do what I wanted it to do.

Last night I could only see 5 or 6 stars but I took my gear outside with the field flattener

attached to my camera. I found the brightest of the 5 stars I could see and pointed my scope

at it. I attached a Bahtinov Mask to the end of my scope and kept taking test images and

making adjustments to my focus until I achieved good focus. So tonight I made up my mind

that I was going to get an image. Because of clouds it took forever to polar align my mount.

One minute I could see Polaris and the next minute I could not. Finally after much stress

and aggravation I did get my mount polar aligned. I began taking light frames and I would get

3 or 4 and then clouds would move in and I would get 3 or 4 unusable images etc, etc, etc.

However after 2 1/2 hours I managed to come up with 45 usable light frames. With all of

that said I did get an image and I'm pleased with the image. I'm also very pleased with the

field flattener. With this image there was a tremendous improvement with the stretched

stars in the corners of my image. I do get wordy don't I. Please enjoy my latest image of

M4.

Description: I reprocessed my image to try and eliminate the green tint. Thanks to Robsi
for pointing it out. I was processing my image at 2:30 am and my old eyes
and brain were not working that great. The sky doesn't really have any green that I'm aware of but for some reason green shows up in many of my images. Anyway with that said please enjoy my reprocessed image.
