Almost a full Moon again. I decided to try and image NGC 6888 because I've never imaged it

or viewed it in an eye piece. I spent an hour trying to locate this object but could never find

it. I'm not even sure if it is possible to see this object in an eye piece. I decided that I would

take test images moving my scope in increments to see if I could luck up and get this object

in an image. I took 5 test images in 5 different locations but could not see the nebula. After

the 5th image clouds moved in and shut me down. I decided that I would download these 5 images to my computer and convert the raw files to jpeg files and do some stretching to see

if I could bring out the nebula. On my 4th image I did bring out the nebula albeit was very

dim. I did some processing on this one image in Gimp, PhotoScape, and Fitswork. I was

pleased that I did get an image and if you squint your eyes you can tell it's the Crescent Nebula.

It's not a great image of NGC 6888 but I will take it until I can get a better one. With all of

that said please enjoy my first image of NGC 6888 the Crescent Nebula.

Description: I reprocessed this image trying to improve the nebula. I like the way the
nebula looks in this image better than the original image. However I'm not
as pleased with the star field. But with that said I think this will be my
final image of this object.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
