Description

The nickname of this galaxy is due to the dark arc- shaped of of dust located on its NE side . The optical diameter of this galaxy is 50,000 light years, what makes its capture very challenge, even more in the southern hesphere.

An interesting respect of this galaxy is that its nucleus a diferent chemical composition from the rest of the galaxy. In addition, the gas of the outer disk, (about 1' around the galaxy) has 100 million solar masses, rotates in an oppositee diretion from the rest of the galaxy, including the stars which rotate all the same way.
