Description

This is my first DSO shot with the new observatory and pier. Setup time was amazingly fast. Having the observatory and pier has made it possible for me to do DSO imaging on "work nights" (Sunday through Thursday nights)! That was impossible before.

I decided to shoot this target again and compare my results to shooting with the CLS-CCD filter. Once again, the LPS-D1 filter yields much more signal for the same exposure time. 4 minute exposures hit 75% of the histogram. The JPG previews had a lot of glare. I backed off a bit on exposure. I'll add more details later, but in retrospect, I probably could have stayed between 3 and 4 minutes - taking out glare in processing.

Also, I tried not to overdo the contrast on this image - preferring to keep a lot of the fainter nebulosity. This one looks "dustier / more cloudy" than my previous attempt, but I believe it does a better job of showing the nebulosity that it truly present.

Thanks for looking!
