Description

First light with the ASI183MM Pro camera. This is a new camera on the way from ZWO, with a 1" sensor format, 2.4 micron pixels, delivering 20 megapixels at 5496x3672. This image was acquired with a Canon 600mm f/4 L II lens, 150mm aperture.

I'm quite intrigued by how much detail can be extracted at just 600mm focal length and a moderately sized aperture. This camera could be quite interesting for higher resolution galaxy imaging at around a 1000mm focal length with a ~150-200mm aperture (i.e. TEC140 f/7, 8" Newt f/4, etc.)

Apologies for the noisy data. Clear nights don't come along often here, and these ones were extremely windy. I lost a significant mount of data for SII and OIII, and those channels just don't have enough signal at the moment. The wind also accounts for a fairly significant loss in FWHM. The best subs have FWHMs around 2.3", which is ok, but not actually as good as the best I tend to get with the lower resolution ASI1600 on the same scope, which is around 2". Hoping to test again on a night without wind to see what kind of resolution I can really get from this camera.
