Description

Pickering’s Triangle is a part of the Veil Nebula – a supernova remnant located some 1,500 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus. The object was first observed on photographic plates by Williamina Fleming of the Harvard Observatory. However, the object was named after the director of the observatory Edward Charles Pickering (1846-1919).

This is a bicolour image consisting of data collected from my home observatory in the UK between 30 August and 2 September 2016.

It consists:

Ha: 15 x 1200s

OIII: 13 x 1200s

A total of 9.3 hours exposure.
