Description

Subject: M33 (Triangulum Galaxy): Located "just" 4 million light years away, Triangulum is roughly half the diameter of the Milky Way and has about a tenth of the stellar mass. The outer regions of the galaxy, particularly the pinkish areas indicating hydrogen concentrations, are likely star-producing regions.

Capture notes: At this time of year, decent weather is fleeting so I limited the capture to 90 minutes per channel and made a synthetic (or augmented) luminance by averaging the individual RGB stacks with the all-luminance stack. Moon was fairly low in the sky for most of the capture and the first night (R and B channels) was very clear.

Processing notes: Other than the synthetic luminance, I used a pretty ordinary LRGB workflow. Color is mostly via PixInsight's PhotometricColorCalibration, with a bit of saturation added by one application of curves.
