Description

First light with the Esprit 80, and first Hubble palette processing for me. I got the Esprit 80 because I wanted a really wide field scope that could handle most of the larger objects with a mosaic.

I used PixInsight for processing and went for color and contrast.

I find in my 9 months of doing this, I've switched from trying to shoot 2 or 3 objects a night ("cataloging") to several nights on one object ("projects") and like the results of the project approach a lot more.

This one has 10 hours total of SII, Ha and OIII data. I shot about as much LRGB thinking I would add RGB stars, but found I preferred the white stars obtained by MorphologicalTransformation in PI better than the look achieved by adding the RGB stars. For me, the RGB stars took away from the colorful nebula by adding a little too many colors.
