Description

This poster image of all 110 Messier Objects is the culmination of a year long project, stemming from my visual observing days when I developed a fondness for the list. It actually took me a few months longer than a year to image all of them. I became sidetracked with other interesting deep sky and solar system targets during that time frame. I also have included 2 images here which describe the catalog in tabular form, including location, size, object type, and nickname.

A separate Astrobin post has a similar image which has the exact same scale for each object with a field of view width of 25 minutes (0.42 degrees). Here is the link to that image - Messier Objects - To Scale . I think both versions are useful - enlarging the individual image shows the object detail, while using the same scale allows for comparing object sizes.

For more detailed information and images for each individual object, please see my Messier Astrobin collection here.

I have also created a sortable spreadsheet that contains key information for all of the over 400 objects from my 4 main Astrobin compilations (Messier, Caldwell, Hidden Treasures and Secret Deep). The spreadsheet data for each object includes designation, nickname, object type, RA & Dec, transit date, and size. If you would like a free copy, please email me at [email protected]
