Description

There are two main Sharpless Catalogs online but they do not give the size of the nebula. I discovered this was 3' X 3' a bit late in the acquisition process so continued. So in my notes I have now used The Sky X to get the actual sizes of the objects. I am running out of ones 10' X 10' and larger.... eventually I'll put the notes online so other can get the information in one place. Another issue is that many with the lower numbers are low on the horizon for us H. hemisphere folks.

Well, there is more here than meets the eye after reprocessing.

According to Avedisova, this nebula is ionised by the B1 Ib supergiant LS I +59 10 which agrees with the class given by SIMBAD. Russeil also identifies it as the ionising star but gives a B0.2 II giant class.

Russeil combines Sh 2-163, Sh-164 and Sh 2-166 into a single star formation region.
