Description

This object is a very faint, very old planetary nebula (PN) located just over 1000 light years away in the constellation of Cepheus. The oxygen gas shows up in this image as the blue-green region, while the hydrogen gas shows up as the reddish region. The bluish star in the center of the blue-green region is the central star. At first I thought that the reddish band throughout the upper left corner of the image was just an artifact, but examining other images confirms that this is another faint emission nebula. It is not clear whether this nebula band is related to Dengel-Hartl 5 .
