Description

The first draft of the Flaming Star Nebula (C31/IC405) is a monochrome image using only the Ha filter. There was little O2 data but I used what was there and there was a decent amount of S2 data but getting the colours right proved to be tricky since there's a lot of overlap between the signals from the filter. I came up with several solutions most of which are unusual but some of them I really like. The first colour versions are using a SHO palette where dark blue tones signify Ha only contribution and lighter blue and grey/light magenta highlights indicate S2 contribution. There's also a image based on a HOS palette. I personally prefer the blue flame to the red one but both look good IMO.
