Description

This started out as an LRGB image, but I saw in other examples that there was a significant Ha component. It made for a better image.

I think I'll name this the Marge Simpson Nebula because of its towering blue (at least in my image) hairdo.

NGC 1788 is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Orion. Strong winds from Orion's bright stars have shaped NGC 1788, and likely triggered the formation of the young stars within. The stars inside the nebula are only about a million years old, which is very young compared to most stars. NGC 1788 is near the well-known Witch Head nebula.

Located about 1,300 light-years away, NGC 1788 is just a few degrees away from the bright stars in Orion’s belt.
