Description

Gum 12, also known as the Vela Supernova Remnant, is a 10th magnitude nebula in the constellation Vela. It is roughly 107.7 x 720.0 arcminutes in size. The centre foreground star is HR 3359, which is double star, 2600 LY from Earth. The Nebula is approximately 1470 LY from Earth.

This image consists of 8.5 hrs of narrowband subs: Ha 33 x 300s, Oiii 37 x 300s, & Sii 32 x300s. The subs were processed in DSS and Photoshop CC. Colour Pallet is SHO. Scope was the TS80 Photoline APO, reduced to f5.5. Camera is the ASI1600MM-C, settings were Gain 139 and Offset 21 running at -25C, using Baader narrowband filters. Mount is the CGX.
