Description

This object is an open star cluster of about 100 stars located 1300 light years away in the constellation of Andromeda. From our view on earth, the cluster's visual size is more than four times that of our full moon. This cluster is one of the oldest open clusters known. The stars are predominantly orange in color, with a lack of blue stars, as the cluster has aged and the its stars have begun to evolve off the main sequence into the red-giant stage. The pair of bright orange stars to the lower left is not a member of the cluster.
