Description

I decided that I would try and image M1 again. Over the years I've imaged M1 probably 15 times.

I've only gotten one image that I was pleased with. Most of my images actually resemble what

M1 looks like in an eye piece. Had I not seen images of M1 showing amazing veining and

fiery tentacles I would probably be satisfied with this image. I debated posting my image but

then decided that this could be a base image for me to gage my progress with future images.

M1 holds a special place in my heart. When I first found M1 I realized that I was finally making

progress with my star gazing. I remember thinking at the time "so that is what it looks like".

I had no idea prior to finding M1 that these deep sky objects could be so dim. I began star

gazing using a borrowed Bausch and Lomb Criterion 4000 SCT. I spent many weeks outside

with star charts chasing deep sky objects with very little success until I found M1. After

finding M1 it changed my perspective and gave me a little eye memory that aided me in

locating other deep sky objects.
