Description

Space Tadpoles!

This is IC 410, known informally as the "Tadpole Nebula." The tadpole shapes are star-forming clusters of faintly glowing dust, about 10,000 light years away. Because of the long time it took the light to arrive here, it is possible the tadpoles are now adult frogs.

The dark holes aren't holes. They are clusters of dark space dust blocking our view.

This was a big project for me, including 19 hours in 200 images over four nights.

Processing (All):

WeightedBatchProcessing, Subframe Selector, Image Registration, Local Normalization, Image Integration, Drizzle Integration, Dynamic Crop

Narrowband:

[li]EZ Decon on Ha & SII[/li]

[li]EZ Denoise[/li]

[li]Masked Stretch all 3 narrowband images equally[/li]

[li]StarNet++ to remove stars from the narrowband images[/li]

[li]ArcsinhStretch[/li]

[li]PixelMath to create SHO image
R: .75*SII + 0.25*Ha G: .25*SII + 0.75*Ha
B: OIII[/li]

[li]SCNR to remove green tint[/li]

[li]Reapply Ha as Luminance using LRGBCombination to reduce some noise[/li]

[li]CurvesTransformation to brighten a bit[/li]

[li]Unsharp Mask[/li]

RGB:

[li]EZ Denoise[/li]

[li]Linear fit[/li]

[li]ChannelCombination [/li]

[li]Photometric Color Calibration[/li]

[li]Histogram Transformation to make the image non-linear[/li]

[li]Curves Transformation to reduce luminosity[/li]

[li]EZ Star Reduce [/li]

[li]Histogram Transformation to raise the black point, darkening the background, and removing evidence of dark rings around stars[/li]

Combination:

PixelMath 1-(*1-stars)*(1-SHO))
