Description

Sh2-282 is an emission nebula in Monoceros. The red hydrogen gas is energized by the intense light from the bright blue stars that surround it, in particular the giant pulsating variable star HD47432 (at the lower center) which is more than 15 times the diameter of our sun. Several pillars can be seen embedded in the gas that are being sculpted from the radiation of this bright blue star.

I have been imaging this rarely imaged emission nebula since early December and this is still work in progress. I'm planning to capture more Ha data and re process, nonetheless I am quite happy with the result so far.
