I had been recently inspired by some of the DSLR shooters on Astrobin that had targeted The Horsehead nebula. I had expected that DSLR sensitivity wasn't up to imaging this object but I had found some excellent renditions to inspire me to have another go at it. I had failed before so I had been waiting for conditions to be just right. A dark site, low wind, cooler temperatures. and a day of lower humidity. Christmas night was it! The data collected here was added to the best frames I had gathered over the month. Processing in Startools was a must and a fine tune in Lightroom6. I was very pleased to tease outsome of the fine curtain structures backdropping the Horsehead which seemed to be the domain of Ha on Mono astro cameras. Thankfully the noise mitigation in Startools has the intelligence to preserve fine detail while keeeping noise in check.
