Description

My long-running battle with M101 is finally at an end! After years of imaging this object with chips that were too small, filter wheels that indicated the wrong filter, dodging clouds, fighting transparency-destroying humidity and being smoked out by wildfires, I finally have an image I'm happy with. This image is a combination of wide field subs with a Nikon D750 and narrow field subs of the central area taken with my old SBIG ST-2000.

Since the standard form doesn't apply easily to multiple cameras, here are the acquisition details:

2006-04-22 to 2006-04-24
SBIG ST2000, Celestron C8 at f/6.3, self-guiding camera, -20 degrees C
Luminance - 12 x 15 minutes, unbinned
Red - 4 x 10 minutes, binned 2x2
Green - 4 x 10 minutes, binned 2x2
Blue - 4 x 10 minutes, binned 2x2

2022-04-24 to 2022-05-31
Nikon D750, Celestron C8 at f/7.33, ZWO OAG with ASI174mini guide cam
RGB - 93 x 3 minutes, ISO 200
