Description

M51 is an interacting spiral galaxy located 27 million light years away in the constellation of Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs). In the New General Catalogue, M51 is designated NGC 5194 and its companion NGC 5195.

This is from the Deep Sky West facility in New Mexico. Data were captured over several nights between 29 December 2017 and 19 January 2018, as follows:

Lum: 16 x 900s

Red: 18 x 900s

Green: 16 x 900s

Blue: 17 x 900s

A total of 16.75 hours of exposure.

Some IFN is just distinguishable.
