Description

This object is an open star cluster of 150 stars located 10,000 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros. It is one of the farthest open clusters from us, yet all of the stars appear to be resolved. Because it is so far away, this cluster is not visually impressive to me.

Several large bright blue and orange stars are sprinkled throughout the cluster. The lower left quadrant of the cluster is fairly devoid of stars for some reason. The bright blue star just below the center of the cluster appears to be a close double star. Other double stars are seen throughout the image.
