Description

During my stay at La Palma I was observing the M66 Group (Leo Triplet) through several telescopes. My neighbours allowed me to look at the three galaxies through a 20" and 12" dobsonian (I hope I remember the diameters right). They were wonderful to look at, the dust band in the hamburger galaxy was very well visible. During imaging I was also hunting Messier objects with my 10x50 bino. To my suprise I could see both M65 and M66. According to my sky atlas, only M66 should be visible through a bino under dark skies, so I was very happy to have seen both.

The image is shot through the rented Pentax SDP 105 with my Canon EOS 600Da. I was able to collect 33x 360s subs. I did a 2x drizzle integration and cropped away around 30%, then resized to 70%.

Best regards from Lausanne,

Jan
