Description

Messier 37 - Part of my big open cluster imaging run of 4 targets in one night (finished at 4 am) of M35, 36, 37 and 38.

Discovered by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodierna around 1654, it is the the brightest and richest of the open clusters in the constellation Auriga. The cluster lies around 4500 ly away and is approximately 12 ly across.
