Description

Object: Sculptor Galaxy

Distance: 13 Million Light Years

Magnitude: 7.1

Commentary: The Sculptor Galaxy is a bright and beautiful spiral galaxy obliquely oriented to our line of sight, and is a member of the Sculptor Group of galaxies toward the South Pole. This group is also though to be nearest to the Local Group of galaxies. It was first discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783.
