Description

Messier Object M95 is located in the direction of the Constellation Leo at an approximate distance of 38 Million Light-Years, and is a beautiful example of a barred spiral galaxy with circular arms, labelled as a Type SBb galaxy. It spans an approximate 50,000 Light-Years in diameter. It is described as one of the fainter Messier Objects, but it noted for its bright circumnuclear ring of star-formation, and x-ray light surrounding the ring of star-formation is likely emission from recent supernovae, enhanced by regular outbursts of star formation. The ring is about 2,000 Light-Years in diameter. M95 is one of the key galaxies studied in the Hubble project to help determine the Hubble Constant, key in determining the expansion rate of the universe.
