Description

The VEIL NEBULA is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus (the Swam). Born of the death supernova explosion of a giant star, probably 5000 years ago. The remnants of this explosion expanded, and today the wisps of nebulosity spans about 3 degrees. That’s 6 full moons in there! Being about 1500 light-years away from Earth, it is over 70 ly in diameter. It is also a wonderful photographic object: we all must agree the nebulosity is just stunningly beautiful!
