Description

It's amazing how many great deep-sky objects Cassiopeia has to offer. This session started off with the Heart pretty low in the haze (about 30 degrees), but I think keeping those early frames worked out better than tossing them. I increased dithering to 20 pixels, which I think helped with the horizontal banding I've been dealing with.

B

Description: Applied a better set of darks that more closely matched the temperature range of the light frames, since I noticed some hot pixels showing up in the original. Also used StarXTerminator to work on stars and nebula separately (no star reduction).

C

Description: Reprocessed using Pixinsight for the initial crop, DBE, background neutralization and color calibration. I'm not sure why it's such a vastly different image than the original - probably the way PI handles background extraction vs. Photoshop (?). I tried later, but could not come close to this type of image using only PS.
