Description

NGC6822, Barnard's Galaxy, is an irregular dwarf galaxy located in Sagittarius, near the Milky Way. It is close-by in astronomical terms, at a distance of 1.5 million light-years, and thus a member of the Local Group of Galaxies. It has several distinct HII regions among many, and lots of young blue stars, and has been in active star formation for some time given the copious amounts of hydrogen and dust within the galaxy.
