Description

After I knew that I can see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) from Michigan, I started to learn everything on how to predict it and what is the best place to capture it without driving for 7+ hours from home, luckily after 11 days I was able to find a spot where I stayed overnight for two days.

The first night was no activity what so ever, but because I didn’t know what to look for I was so anxious for the next night, the next night I setup after sunset and to be honest I was expecting nothing, I was talking to my friend and suddenly the tree line lid up when I turned around towards the north I was so shocked to see the sky on fire and that’s when I started my time-lapse.

All I can say is it was a magical show from Sunset till Sunrise and it was one of those nights that I will never forget all my life, I did put a small piece of the time-lapse on astrobin but you can watch the whole thing on YouTube link listed under the image.

Each frame was 4 to 8 seconds at ISO 3200 using Olympus Em5 and Rokinon 12mm.
