Description

The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) is a large hydrogen cloud in the constellation of Monoceros. The open star cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) consists of stars being formed from the nebula. The nebula is around 5,200 light years from Earth.

I received an e-mail yesterday telling me that I had been 'randomly selected to be the winner of a free high quality astrophotography data set from Deep Sky West' for taking part in the recent Astrobin survey. I am not sure I've ever been randomly selected before. I am grateful to Lloyd for donating the data.
