Description

Image I took last weekend of the Messier 63. Much room for improvement- (darn those dust particles!) but I think it's good enough you can see how the dust lanes decorate this beauty to give its moniker, The Sunflower Galaxy. This is a nearly 20 minute composite from luminance, red, green, and blue channels. This galaxy is part of the M51 group of galaxies, the most striking member of which I have previously shared with you- The Whirlpool Galaxy. The Sunflower Galaxy is a whopping 27 million light years distant and has an active possibly supermassive blackhole at its heart.
