Description

This object is a tiny, rarely imaged planetary nebula located 18,000 light years away in the constellation of Perseus at a declination of +35 degrees. This PN spans 10 arc-seconds in our apparent view, about the same size to us currently as Venus, and has a diameter of 1 light year.

IC 351 would be tough to pick out from the starry background if not for its bright blue color and oval shape. The central star is faintly visible, along with an oval torus of bright nebulosity within the central region.

This PN looks very similar in shape and color to NGC 7009. I have attached a comparison, labelled as Revision C above. IC 351 is 4x further away from us, so less detail is evident in this object.
