Description

That's my 2nd attempt on Bode's Galaxy. Messier 81 is a jewel of the northern sky. It's a big and bright target with lot of starbursting activity and nice spiral arms. The activity is easily detectable , even without a Ha filter. Still, an Ha filter reveals more of those regions. To my surprise, M81 has a negative redshift, so it seems to come towards us. It would be nice to see merging the Local Group with the M81 group in some tens of billions of years, but I'm not sure if the gravity is strong enough.

I tried to pay full respect to the color spectrum of this wonderful spiral.

Also, with 17h of Luminance, Arp's Loop became visible, even in my light polluted orange area. Broadband imaging is really hard here, but such galaxies are worth all the spent time.
