NGC 5394 and NGC 5395, aka ARP 84

A fabulous Arp galaxy interacting pair. 200 2.5 second images stacked live in SharpCap, with the images left a little raw as they were viewed live on my laptop. Image rotation during the capture run distorts the far right edge of the field and there is a little vignetting on the for left and bottom. Still working on tuning my flats for my telescope and the Rev Imager.

Note several background galaxies in the field as well as the two NGC and IC 4356. A tiny 870 mly distant edge-on PGC 2101092 can be at the end of the upper right tidal tail of NGC 5394 and a little to its right is the faintest catalogued galaxy in the view, PGC 4004111, at magnitude 18.7 and estimated to be 2.3 bly away. At the center top is elliptical galaxy PGC 2102129 and the fainter PGC 2102430 to its immediate left and I also suspect that the smudge to its north is also a distant faint galaxy, but its not plotted in the expanded galaxy database in SkySafari.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
