Description

Arp 189 or NGC 4651 is also known as the "umbrella galaxy" due to its plume extending towards the right and left (barely visible in my image) of the galactic disc. The right plume extends about 50000 light-years into space. The structure is a remnant of an interaction with a smaller galaxy, that NGC 4651 consumed, thus only the main galaxy is visible today.

I was having problems getting the color right in this image. I am not very satisfied with the core/arms of the galaxy. Needs more data for rgb ;)
