Description

I was lucky enough to have an ISS transit of the Sun visible from my house today. This image also marks first light for my Explore Scientific AR152. There is nothing like a trial by fire!

This image was shot using Baader Solar film as a white light image. I also shot through a red filter to try to limit the spectrum a bit and get more clarity. The seeing was average at best. It was a stressful event, trying to get the scope set up for the first time, focused and pointed in time for the pass. But, it came together!

I had two other DSLR setups rolling that missed the event due to different reasons. One out of three isn't bad and who is counting, anyway?!

My friend Chuck lives 25 miles from me and he caught the pass around 4 seconds later, check it out. I don’t know the odds of both of us being on the centerline, but we are betting they are pretty low.

Happy experimenting and, as always, enjoy!
