IC 2944, aka the Running Chicken Nebula, is an emission nebula associated with an open star cluster in the constellation Centaurus. Towards the centre are Thackeray's Globules - a group of Bok Globules comprised of dense cosmic dust and gas. Bok Globules are often a site of star formation but not in this case.
