Description

This is a video astronomy image—very short exposures with no post-processing. It shows the brightest filament of this extremely large (about three degrees in diameter) planetary nebula.

While showing my wife what I was up to, she commented that the name "SH2-216” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, so we took the liberty of giving it an additional name: "The Nearby Planetary Nebula”.
