Description

There are not many narrowband objects in the late winter/early spring sky. So I went hunting for larger planetary nebulae that might make a decent target. Due to expansion, this nova remnant has a very low surface brightness, but a decent size too.

I have not seen any representations of this with SII so I skipped that in favor of a traditional Ha OIII bi-color. 27 Ha and 40 OIII subs were used, each 20 minutes. Total time 21 Hours.

Watching the OIII stack is one of the wonders of this hobby in that the nebula image barely registered against the background but the stack showed the structures clearly. Aren't statistics beautiful?

Red = Ha, Blue = 90% OIII 10% Ha, Green is the blend of the Red and Blue channels
