Description

The Rosette Nebula - NGC 2237Caldwell 49 is a large, circular region of nebulosity located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 - Caldwell 50 - is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter. The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of some 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. [Information from Wikipedia]

This image comprises 5 x 600 seconds each of Ha, OIII & SII taken through my TS 50mm f6.6/330 with .8 focal reducer onto an Atik 314L+ camera and guided by PHD using a QHY5 through a WO ZS 80 II ED APO (Dblt) all mounted on an HEQ5 Pro Synscan. Capture software is Nebulosity V3; followed by DeepSkyStaker; post processing in Photoshop CS3.

The colour palette started life as the basic Hubble palette but ended-up as a variation on the theme!!! Because it started to cloud over there isn't really anything like enough data. This has resulted in various artifacts being created during the post-processing. The image has also been cropped in width and reduced in size.
