Lately I've seen some beautiful examples of this area so I thought I'd give it a try. This image is of only a tiny slice of the gigantic nebula complex. Colors abound here, bluish reflection nebula, reddish hydrogen-rich emission nebula—both of which color the stars behind them—punctuated by thick, dark fingers of gas and dust completely obliterating any view of more distant suns. All of it overlooked by the Rho Ophiuchi triple-star system.
