Description

Globular cluster NGC 6712 in Scutum rises above the star density of the background Milky Way, but not by much! A little easter egg can be found to the lower left. Planetary nebula IC1295 can be seen there photobombing the image. I was happy to see that both an inner and outer halo were apparent here. You can also see the intense blue progenitor star that has become a white dwarf right at the center of the nebula.

Description: Reprocesed in Fitswork to improve contrast and overall color saturation. You can now also more easily spot the tiny green planetary K4-8 one fifth of the way from IC1295 to NGC6712. This wasn't obvious in the washed out original image.
