Description

This object is a small spiral galaxy located 40 million light years away in the constellation of Draco. Its diameter is about 70,000 light years. I was not able to find much information on this object. It looks to me that the galaxy orientation is midway between edge-on and face-on.

The most interesting aspect of this galaxy is that its disk is divided into two distinct areas - a brighter inner half with many spiral arms and an interesting dark lane which spirals out above the core, and a dimmer outer half which resembles a faint star cloud. In the upper section of this outer half, there are 4 small faint spherical areas where the stars seem to be more concentrated. The one above and slight left of the galaxy resembles a small satellite galaxy. Perhaps this interesting outer half was the result of an interaction with another galaxy long ago.

Many faint galaxies are visible in the background.
