Description

This is the galaxy cluster best known as Abell 2065, but it is also cataloged as the Zwicky cluster ZW 1520+2748. Zwicky listed the galaxy count at 293. The Abell catalog itself lists the count at 109, but most online references to Abell 2065 say that there are over 400 galaxies. I have an annotated image (the "original" version here) that identifies 220 galaxies from the PGC catalog down to mag 20, and there are a number of non-cataloged galaxies that are visible in the image. There are no galaxies bright enough to make it into the NGC or IC catalogs. Depending on which source you refer to, the brightest galaxy is in the range of mag 15.5 - 16+. The cluster is estimated to be about a billion light years distant.
