Description

Pre-dawn skies at Knabs Ridge wind farm on 25th June 2018 at 02:39 BST (01:39 UT). A fine network of ripples and waves of ice coated micrometeorite particles preferentially reflecting blue light can be seen in the mesosphere 80 Km above the ground. The electric blue tendrils furthest from the horizon are directly above the far north coast of Scotland and those nearest the horizon stretch northwards to a degree of latitude above the Faroe Islands roughly 1000 Km away from the observer near Harrogate, England at 54 degrees north.
